Best Time to Stain Your Deck

Because you want to wait for days that aren't excessively hot or humid, the best times to apply deck stains are in the late spring and early fall, when the weather is moderately warm and dry.

Keeping your deck looking good year round, can truly feel like a war against Mother Nature. Humidity, rain, snow and direct sunlight from hot days, can all  play a role in the wear of your deck and the quality of your wood. A poorly maintained deck also invites mold, mildew and pests that can destroy your decking and ruin your investment. the quality of your wood. How to Tell If a Deck Should Be Stained

Deck stains are designed to keep moisture out of your wood as well as adding character and beauty. The easiest way to tell if its time to stain or retain your deck, is to pour some water on the wood and examine the site. If you notice that the water beads and runs off the surface, your deck is still protected. If the water soaks the wood, it’s time to look at deck stains.

Top 4 Reasons Why You Should Repaint Your Cabinets Instead of Replace Them

As the focal point of your home, the kitchen is an area that is important for preparing meals, gathering with family and sitting down to catch up with friends while sharing snacks or dessert. Your bathroom also has cabinets that contribute to the storage and organization of this area, as well as the aesthetics. Because these areas will forever be part of so many memories and the overall flow of your home, it makes sense to invest in updating these cabinets periodically. If your cabinets seem out of date, you may be considering replacing them. Don’t! It generally makes more sense to have wood cabinets painted rather than ripping them out and having new ones installed. Let’s look at some of the reasons why.

Cost

When you compare the cost of completely ripping out and replacing your cabinets versus simply having them painted, you’ll find that painting is far more affordable. This leaves a lot of room to update other areas of your kitchen or bathroom, such as investing in new appliances or replacing countertops that are worn out.

When it comes to cost, it’s also important to stress that the quality of paint that’s used will impact your budget well into the future. If you opt to save as much money as possible on your kitchen or bath update, you may be tempted to settle for a low-quality paint product. This could result in a finish that peels easily, stains or isn’t able to be wiped off without impacting the finish. You'll end up painting again in the near future. It’s a good idea to take some of the money you saved from not replacing the cabinets and invest in a high-quality paint.

Timeline

The kitchen and bathroom are areas of the home that you pass through multiple times per day. You utilize these spaces for meal preparation, bathing, getting ready for the day, etc. It’s a huge undertaking to take on a kitchen or bathroom remodel (or update of any kind). Losing use of these spaces can be quite a challenge. To minimize the amount of time that you are impacted, repainting your kitchen cabinets or bathroom cabinets is the way to go. Including prep work, you’re really only looking at a few days of work. If you were to have cabinets removed, the walls might need to be repaired or painted, the backsplash or tile could be impacted, etc. With installation of everything, this could take weeks or even months depending on the size of your kitchen or bathroom and the amount of work that needs to be done.

Professional Results

Working with a reputable professional that has experience with painting cabinets can ensure that you’re going to have beautiful cabinets that look brand new, smooth, clean and updated. A lot of people are tempted to paint their cabinets on their own, which tends not to work out very well. There’s actually a good deal of prep work that is needed to ensure a smooth finish that is free of imperfections.

The type of paint that is used is also important. A professional painter will utilize a contractor-grade product that will provide you with durability, longevity, brilliant color and the ability to wash the surface. Make sure you communicate to your painters what kind of look you’re going for, but also what you’re looking for in regard to function.

Keeping Quality While Updating the Look

Painting your cabinets isn’t just about improving the aesthetics of a room. Quality is something that should also be important to you and the professionals that you’re working with. Investing in new cabinets may put you on a budget that forces you to settle for cabinets that aren’t the quality or condition that you had hoped for. Whereas painting your existing cabinets allows for certain repairs to be made before applying the paint. You end up getting much higher quality results.

Peeling Paint on Wall of an old house

Here's your sign: Time to Repaint your Home's Exterior

On average, it’s recommended that your home get repainted roughly once per ten years. Though of course, this timeframe may vary based on things like the climate where your home is located and the type of paint that was used for the last painting. Professionals can assess your home’s exterior to determine if it’s time to take on an exterior paint project. Let’s take a look at five signs that will help you determine if it’s time to repaint your home.

Sign #1 - The Paint is Fading

It’s inevitable that the brilliance of your home’s paint job will fade over time. Even the best quality paints will eventually break down. Though, the goal of choosing a good paint brand is hoping that the color will fade relatively evenly. However, there are probably areas of your home’s exterior that will be exposed to more sunlight than others, which causes paint to fade at different rates. If you’re concerned with fading, choose a light color the next time you are painting the exterior of your home. The lighter the color, the less fading that will appear.

Sign #2 - The Paint is Peeling

Peeling is something that can greatly affect the curb appeal of your home, but it can also affect the structure of your house. Peeling paint allows for moisture to get behind the paint. This can cause mold growth, wood rot, and more peeling will occur over a short amount of time. Some minor peeling can sometimes be repaired with a little bit of matching paint, but a whole house that is experiencing this issue should be repainted in the very near future.

Sign #3 - Outdated Aesthetics

The color styles that were popular the last time that your home was painted may be very different than what is popular right now. To keep your home looking like it fits in with the current trends, you may want to hire a professional to paint your home with a fresh and modern color. If you’re concerned with your home looking outdated in the future, pick a very light and neutral color that provides a classic look.

Sign #4 - Need to Increase Home Value

If you’ve decided that you’re going to be selling your home in the near future, a fresh coat of paint can go a long way towards increasing the overall value of your property. The exterior of a listing is the first thing that someone sees when they drive up. If the outside looks unkempt, messy, or in need of repairs, it makes a person wonder what awaits them on the inside. It doesn’t cost a lot of money to have the exterior of your home painted, but it can really make a big difference in overall value and impression.

Sign #5 - Stains and Mold Are Present

Upon an inspection of your home’s exterior, do you notice that there are spots of mold, mildew or stains? Some of these minor issues can be cleaned away with a pressure washing or light scrubbing. However, having a large portion of the exterior covered in these problems indicates that it’s time for a fresh coat of paint. Of course, it’s usually a good idea to have as much of these issues cleaned up prior to painting, but you’ll be shocked at how fresh and clean everything looks when the job has been completed.

Understanding Paint Quality and Type

It’s beneficial to have the help of a professional when it comes time to paint the exterior of your home. The quality of the paint that you choose is very important in regard to protecting your home, making it look nice, and preventing you from having to paint again in just a few years. Sometimes, investing a little more money in a high-quality product can make a really big difference in the outcome of the project. It also helps to take into account things like UV rays, exposure to the elements, wind, moisture, etc. If you’re unsure of what you should be using, speak with a trusted professional that can provide you with guidance.

The words “wash me” pressure washed into an old, weathered deck

Restain Your Deck Now Before the Winter Weather Hits

You still have a little bit of nice weather left before the temperatures drop and snow starts to fly. This is the perfect time to invest in some outdoor maintenance that will enhance the value of your property while also improving its beauty. You can hire a professional to re-stain the surface of your deck. Not only will this aid in protecting your deck, but this gives a professional an opportunity to inspect the surface and structure, clean the area, remove old product, and make any repairs that are needed.

Inspection

Regardless of what materials were used to build your deck originally, wear and tear from foot traffic and weather damage can all compromise the overall structural integrity of your deck over time. Having a professional inspect your deck before staining and before winter will determine if all of the boards are still securely in place, whether or not anything is rotting and needs to be replaced, and to check for potential settling of the deck’s surface that could be causing it to shift from its original place.

Repairs

If anything is found during your deck inspection, repairs should be made right away before any kind of resurfacing or staining occurs. Repairs can be as simple as hammering some additional nails into the boards to keep squeaks at bay or to further secure the surface of your deck. In general, repairs can help lengthen the lifespan of your deck.

Clean

Before the surface of your deck is stained, a professional will use a deck cleaner to remove dirt, grime and other messes. A clean surface is needed in order for the new stain to properly adhere to the material of your deck. You’ve probably looked at wood that has been sitting outside for a while and noticed that it had a gray or dirty appearance to it. You’ll want to remove that before new stain is applied.

The end result will be a smooth, consistent, and beautiful stained surface. Sometimes this process is completed with the use of a pressure washer, while other times there are chemical cleaning products that will be utilized to really provide a thorough cleaning.

Removing Old Paint and Stain

If you have old paint or stain on your deck that is peeling or chipping off, it needs to be removed before you can have a new coat of product put on. A professional will assess your deck to see how much work is needed to remove the old product, and they will make a recommendation regarding what needs to be done prior to exterior wood stain being applied. This can be a pretty involved process that you will want to leave to the professionals, so you don’t have to take it on yourself.

Sanding

Sanding certain spots on your deck can address any areas that have become rough with time or have developed sharp splinters. This should be done after the deck has been cleaned and prepared, but before any kind of new stain is applied.

Selecting Exterior Wood Stain

There are so many different types of exterior wood stain to choose from. Not only are there multiple brands, but there are endless colors as well. Not all products are created equally, and some just don’t hold up well over time. A professional can help you choose a stain that will add protection to your deck while also looking nice from the aspect of curb appeal. It helps to have professional help when assessing the size of your deck. You don’t want to purchase too much stain, but you want to make sure you have enough on hand to get the job done. It’s important to source the stain from the same batch to prevent any kind of inconsistencies in color or finish.

Using the Correct Tools for Application

You’re limited with what kinds of tools you can use to apply stain to your deck yourself, but professionals have all kinds of items on hand. Depending on the size of your deck and the condition that it’s in, you may have stain applied by spraying it on or by having it rolled onto the surface. It’s also ideal to utilize staining to ensure the underside of your deck receives ample protection.

Commercial Painting

So, a paint job is a paint job, right? Just a brush or roller applying a colored coating to walls or siding. It’s just interior and exterior – there’s really no difference between commercial painting and residential painting, right?

Wrong.

If you own or manage a business – a shop, office building, factory, warehouse or multi-unit living or treatment facility like a condo complex or a health clinic – you should be aware that there are significant differences between commercial and residential painting services. As a business owner or facility manager, your experience with painting your home will be very different from your commercial painting experience. But don't worry! The professionals at Hetrick Painting are here to advise you and manage your project every step of the way.

Commercial Painting v. Residential Painting

Just about anyone who owns or lives in a home, apartment or condo has become familiar with having their living space repainted. Commercial painting projects differ, first and foremost, in size. Unless your business is very small, your commercial painting project is likely to be two to three times the size of residential project at a minimum, and probably substantially more. Businesses almost always exceed the square footage of an average home by many thousands, thus requiring larger crews, more materials, and more time to complete.

Then there’s the matter of scheduling. For residential work, painters work with the property owner and the two can agree on a plan to accommodate painting in one room while life continues in the rest of the house. This scheduling is a greater issue for commercial jobs, as business hours and essential business duties must be taken into account. In addition to a larger crew, several crews working different shifts may be necessary, and some work may need to be done at night or on weekends, all to accommodate the facility’s employees, customers, inventory, residents, and business partners.

Skillsets and equipment also come into play. A residential painting job by a professional painting company is very similar to a DIY project – a couple of painters, ladders and drop cloths, brushes and rollers, etc., working with a standard interior drywall or plaster surface and/or a standard exterior material like wood siding. A commercial job very often requires multiple surfaces (wood, concrete, marble, metal, reinforced plastic and many others) that require complex equipment (pressure washers, sandblasters, paint sprayers, scaffolding, and more). Crews assigned to commercial painting jobs must be versed in special surface preparation, metalizing, epoxy coatings, waterproofing, high-durability coatings, joint sealing, and much more.

Because of these considerations, project management is a must for commercial painting work. While a residential job may often be led by a crew leader who also paints, a commercial painting project likely needs a separate project manager. This manager stays informed with all aspects of the job, ensures safety and reduces risks, and works to safeguard the facility’s fixtures (i.e., floors, lighting) and contents (furniture, products). The project manager will keep in touch with each crew and shift and all the various elements of the total project, and then communicate updates, schedules and needs to the client business owner or facility operator.

Hetrick Painting has all the experience your business or facility needs for its next commercial painting project. Our crews of professionals have extensive experience with commercial projects, including the specialized equipment used and the advanced skills required. Our project managers have considerable experience in overseeing commercial jobs, and will work to ensure everything goes on schedule and on budget, and keeping you, our customer, informed.

Interior Painting

When was the last time your home was painted? Are you happy with your interior colors? Do your walls look bright and cheery, or dull and lifeless?

If you’re like many homeowners, your interior walls take a daily beating. Scuffs. Fingerprints. Minor dings and dents. And those water stains in the front hall where the dog shakes off when he comes in from the rain. If it’s been more than 10-15 years since your home was painted, it’s time to think about a fresh coat of color on your walls.

The Value of Interior Painting

Interior painting does more than just beautify. Here are other reasons to have your home painted now:

  1. Hide stains, defects and permanent marks. New paint makes wall and trim imperfections less noticeable.
  2. Reduce dust. Old paint attracts dirt; fresh paint keeps dust at bay, especially on plastered walls.
  3. Resist wear and tear. Newly painted interior surfaces protect walls from moisture and dirt.
  4. Promote healthy indoor air quality. Zero- or low-VOC paints and finishes reduce fumes and odors emanating from paint. VOC stands for volatile organic compounds, which are solvents that get released into the air as paint dries. Hetrick Painting commonly uses healthier zero-VOC odorless paints.
  5. Easy, affordable redecorating. A new wall color is the cheapest and simplest way to re-do a room and give it a whole new look.
  6. Boost your mood. Changing the colors that surround you can improve your entire outlook by creating a cheerier, more beautiful ambience and environment.
  7. Put money in your pocket. Fresh paint can increase your home’s value, and real estate agents uniformly recommend repainting before putting your home on the market for increased traffic and a higher asking price.

Our Interior Painting Services

If even one of these benefits caught your attention, talk with the friendly, knowledgeable professionals at Hetrick Painting for advice and an estimate.

When you deal with Hetrick Painting Inc., you’re working with a fully licensed and insured, family-owned local business that’s served Richmond, Virginia, for more than three decades. We are a full-service, family owned and operated painting company, and we’re proud of our reputation for quality and affordability. We use the best product lines available including Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams and Zero VOC odorless green products. And, we treat every property with the respect we give our own homes and business.

We Help You Make Choices

When it comes to painting, most people focus on color. But other decisions need to be made first: What type of paint, and what finish. At Hetrick, we always help customers choose the best paint for their project.

Paint type
For interior wall surfaces, latex is usually the preferred paint type. It’s durable, easy to clean, and resists fading. It also breathes, making it less likely to blister. Oil-based paint is often preferred to prime real wood moldings and trim as the oil seals the wood better than latex. At Hetrick Painting, we like to use an oil-based shellac primer on trim and then a latex paint as the top coat.

Paint finish
The shiny high gloss is easiest to clean and best for trim, high-traffic rooms like a playroom, or in rooms where grease can be splattered, like a kitchen. Semi gloss has less shine than high gloss and still cleans up well. It also tends to be slightly cheaper than high gloss. Many people prefer semi gloss for its satiny, smooth finish. Flat or matte finishes tend to be best for imperfect walls – for example, in older homes. Often, one coat of flat is all that’s needed. A disadvantage of flat paint is that it does not stand up to cleaning and can show dirt more easily than high gloss or semi gloss. Finally, eggshell is a great all-purpose finish – it hides imperfections as well as flat but is more durable and smoother to the touch. At Hetrick, we recommend eggshell for most rooms as it seems to offer the best of both flat and glossy finishes.

After choosing paint type and finish, then it’s time to consider color. Compared with picking a paint type and a paint finish, choosing a color is more complicated. There are so many options: bright, light, dark, neutral, and everything in between. At Hetrick Painting, our experienced, knowledgeable interior designers are always glad to help our customers choose the perfect paint color. With that said, here are some of our general guidelines on color:

  • If you are selling your home or plan to sell soon, choose a light neutral such as white, off-white, or gray. Real estate agents agree that these are the shades that appeal to most home buyers, and they make your rooms look big and airy.
  • If you’re choosing colors for a home you’ll be living in for a while, you have many options. Give some thought to the room’s purpose and the atmosphere you want to convey. You might want a bold color for a game room and a soothing one for a bedroom. At Hetrick, we help our customers use a color wheel to choose primary, secondary and accent colors that work for them.

Let Us Handle Your Interior Painting Project!

Exterior Painting

The Value of Exterior Painting

How’s your curb appeal? A fresh coat of paint is a quick, easy and affordable way to spruce up your home’s exterior. Are you thinking about selling your home? Has it been 10 years or more since the last time your home’s exterior was painted? Even if you have a brick home, or one with vinyl siding, what about the doors, shutters and trim, and your front porch? A fresh coat of paint can make your home look like new.

How well is your home protected from the weather? Your home is subjected to the elements each and every day: heat and humidity, cold and freezing temperatures, rain, snow and ice, wind and wind-swept dust and debris, and sometimes even hail. All of these climatic elements can weather your home and make it look tired and old. New paint offers protection and durability.

Our Exterior Painting Services

Hetrick Painting, Inc., can revive your home to its original beauty and luster. Regular exterior painting protects your home from water damage that’s especially common during winter months, making summer an ideal time to repaint, to take advantage of faster drying and curing rates during the warm season. Regular painting also protects against the growth of mold and mildew that can occur in wet and humid seasons. Some paint products reduce scuffing and scratching, making them a good choice for porches and door trim. Finally, a well-maintained, freshly or recently repainted exterior is sure to increase the value of your property.

Our experienced professional painters will give your home’s exterior a complete facelift with expert attention to detail, quality materials, and an affordable price that fits your budget. With Hetrick Painting, you receive full service – exterior siding and trim repairs, siding replacement when needed, power washing, and finally, the finished paint job. We pride ourselves on thoroughness, never ignoring hard-to-reach areas and always taking care with finishing touches. For best results, we use only premium products with long-lasting warranties, from the Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams lines.

Tips on Exterior Painting

If you’re considering an exterior facelift for your home, here are our top recommendations:

  1. Choose light siding colors, dark trim colors. Light colors on main surfaces reflect heat to keep your home cooler in summer. Common light colors are whites, tans and yellows. Dark colors on shutters, doors and trim provide contrast without overheating the home, are easy to clean, and provide excellent durability.
  2. Consider a timeless color, like blue. Classic colors like pale blue fit well with traditional, cottage and seaside home designs.
  3. Select the darkest color for your doors. Real estate experts say you can raise the value of your home by thousands of dollars with a black front door. Charcoal and slate gray are also excellent door colors, as well as dark shades of blue, like navy. Most people are afraid of dark paint – don’t be!
  4. Neutral colors increase curb appeal. Navy is a hot exterior paint color now, but not everyone likes dark colors, so if you’re planning to sell your home soon, or thinking about selling in the next few years, you might choose a neutral shade instead. Whites, pale yellows, grays, tans, and light blues are widely popular among today’s home buyers. A 2015 survey of real estate agents noted that a fresh coat of paint can increase the value of a property by as much as 50%! While you might not enjoy such dramatic results, MSN.com quoted real estate experts in a 2021 story saying that homes with freshly painted exteriors are sure to draw more attention from buyers, and sell faster.

2021 Bathroom Painting Tips - Picking Paint

2021 Bathroom Painting Tips: Part 2 - Picking Paint

Now that you are done preparing your bathroom for painting, you will want to consider two things, the type of paint that you need to use and what colors you will use. You will need to take your time to ensure that you create the look in your bathroom that you will love.

Picking Out Paint Finish

The first thing you will want to make sure that you know the difference in the paint finish. When painting your bathroom, you must make sure that you use the right paint as your bathroom will have a lot of moisture in it.

• Bathroom walls. Since your bathroom is exposed to tons of moisture, you will need to pick a paint that does well in humid areas. Flat paint is not at all washable and is the least resistant to moisture build-up. You will want to have a paint that has a moderate gloss level. Semi-gloss and satin paints are very durable and can stand up to the humid conditions in your bathroom. These paints are washable, so you can always wipe down your walls. A full gloss paint is also an option, but you will need to keep in mind that it will make your bathroom super shiny and show any flaws in the wall.
• Window trim and door. When it comes to your bathroom door and window trim, you will want to make sure that you choose either a gloss paint or a semi-gloss paint. This is because you will see plenty of dirty fingerprints, scuffs, and scratches on these areas. If you use a gloss finish on your door and trim, it will give your bathroom a unique appeal, especially if you use a semi-gloss on the walls.
• Bathroom ceiling. In most cases, people will paint their ceilings with a flat paint. However, this should never be used in a bathroom. You will want to choose a paint that can withstand moisture well. A satin paint can stand up to moisture and will give a great look to your ceiling.

Choosing Paint Colors

Now that you know all about the types of paint you should use to paint your bathroom, you can now decide on what colors to paint your bathroom. You will want to take your time to consider the colors to ensure that your bathroom looks the way you want. Below are a few tips to help you choose.

Use the Color Wheel

If you are trying to decide what colors go together, look at the color wheel. It may give you some inspiration for your bathroom. It can tell you what colors go well together. For example, blues and greens go well together because they are next to each other on the color wheel.

Pick Out Three Colors

There is a rule of three when picking out paint colors. Choose one rich color, one accent color, and one neutral color. You should use the lightest color throughout the bathroom at 70%, and then the next lightest color you should use for 20% of the room. You should use the darkest color for 10% of the room.

Choose Two Neutrals

A neutral bathroom color scheme can create an atmosphere to relax in. When you choose two neutral colors, you will want to do 70/30 for the color scheme. A popular choice would be gray and white. You can also add in patterned elements to help the bathroom pop.

The Second Rule Of Three

The second rule of three will have you picking out a color and ensuring that you use it three different times in the room. For example, the color should be on the walls, accents, and towels. This can make your bathroom look amazing.

Dark Colors Can Be Amazing

Most people never consider painting their bathroom a dark color. However, painting your bathroom in a dark color like cocoa or charcoal can give your bathroom an amazing look. To make the room look amazing, make sure that the trim is in a bright color and use mirrors and wall décor to make the bathroom look even better.

Choose Two Bright Colors

If you want a bathroom that is energetic, you should use bright hues. For example, painting your bathroom in a mix of blue and orange can make your bathroom look invigorating. Six Outdoor Painting Tips to Boost the Value of Your Property

Everyone knows how much a fresh coat of paint makes the house look and feel better. Many people do not realize how much money you can add to your home with a minor investment in quality paint and the best exterior paint colors. Check out six of our most popular suggestions to increase home equity and get a fresh new look that is fun and beautiful.

Trim with dark colors

To get a stark contrast without overheating the home, it is best to use the darkest colors to accent the house and the lighter ones for the main surfaces. Painting the shutters with latex exterior paint will let you clean them easily and provide excellent durability.

Lowes exterior paint lines include a diverse range of options at affordable prices. You can purchase the paint in five-gallon sizes for larger homes or try samples with half-pint cans. They sell popular brands like Valspar, HGTV signature lines through Sherwin Williams, Krylon, and more.

Paint the main structure with a timeless color like blue

Exterior house paint provides the opportunity to build home value when you use classic colors. A pale blue is a beautiful color that fits in well with seaside homes and cottage designs. A navy blue is vibrant and bold for modern home styles. The cost of exterior house paint is around $25 a gallon, depending on the quality and manufacturer. Sherwin-Williams says it takes about four hours for their paint to dry in normal conditions over 50 degrees Fahrenheit, so it is important to start painting early in the day in dry weather.

Stay light to reduce heating costs

The color of your exterior paint will play a part in how much it costs to heat and cool your home. You can increase the savings by using white exterior paint or light colors like tan or yellow. These hues will reflect the sun’s rays, causing the home to heat up less in the summer. You can stick with the darker theme for the trim if you want the deep contrast. Otherwise, a darker shade of the same light tone will keep your energy savings high.

Use the darkest paint for the door color

Many people are afraid of using dark paint. However, Business Insider says you can raise the price of the resale value of your home over $5,000 with a black front door. The best exterior door paint colors are the ones that enhance the curb appeal of your home and blend in well with the colors of neighboring homes. Charcoals, slates, and deep tones of black are excellent options if you are bold enough to try them.

Get the advice of an expert

HGTV says for a hundred bucks, anyone can hire a stager, painter, or contractor for an hour. You can ask specific questions about exterior house paint ideas, the best paint for your outside projects, and when to paint your home. These professionals can tell you how much certain projects will add to your home value. For example, a new coat of paint on the deck may be more valuable in the south than in the north.

Paint with neutral tones when selling your home

To get the most interest in a home, it is better to go with colors that will not turn off some buyers. Dark or custom paint schemes may not appeal to certain people. To prevent alienating buyers, it is best to go with a light color that is easy on the eyes. Whites, yellows, grays, and light blues are excellent options for selling a house. Bob Vila tells fans the best colors are light browns and grays when you want to get more interest in your home.

Sherwin-Williams exterior paint colors include a wide range of options. Mildew-resistant products are excellent for rainy climates. If you are super busy, then purchasing a paint that covers everything in one coat may work best. There are even products that resist scuffing and scratching.

Raising the equity in your home is fast with a fresh coat of durable, quality paint. These products are quick to apply with the right tools. For large jobs, paint sprayers offer a fast way to cover large surfaces. To get next to window panes and in-between the slats in shutters, a thin paintbrush is best. A one or two-inch brush will work best for these situations. To cover the siding, deck, or doors, a four-inch brush or roller will speed up the process. Homelight tells readers that painting the exterior of the house may only provide a 50 percent return on investment, but the downfall of not painting will drastically lower the value of a property and affect resale value.
